DETIK – Toyota-Astra Motor (TAM) officially began sales of the Urban Cruiser EV at the GAIKINDO Jakarta Auto Week (GJAW) 2025 held at the Indonesia Convention Exhibition (ICE) BSD City, Tangerang, Banten. The electric vehicle is priced at Rp759 million on-the-road Jakarta—around Rp100 million higher than the initial estimate of Rp650 million.

The price increase is attributed to the Urban Cruiser EV’s status as a fully imported model from Japan. Its pricing places the vehicle as the second most expensive electric B-SUV in the market, just below the Honda e:N1 and above the Hyundai Kona Electric N Line.

The Urban Cruiser EV is equipped with a lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery, known for its durability and efficiency. Toyota is targeting customers seeking a compact electric vehicle with reliable performance for daily mobility. This model becomes Toyota’s second battery-electric vehicle in Indonesia, following the locally assembled bZ4X.

TAM stated that the Urban Cruiser EV has yet to enter local production, though the possibility remains open in line with Toyota’s broader electrification roadmap in Indonesia. The company also noted that roughly 90 percent of its current sales come from locally produced vehicles.

The model is now available for booking, with deliveries scheduled within this year. The launch coincides with the debut of the Veloz Hybrid EV and the start of sales for the locally produced bZ4X, marking Toyota’s continued expansion of its electrified vehicle portfolio in Indonesia. (*)
