KORLANTAS POLRI – The Traffic Corps (Korlantas) of the Indonesian National Police (POLRI) held drone operation training in collaboration with the Indonesian Aerosport Federation (FASI). The training aims to enhance personnel capabilities in utilizing aerial technology to support traffic monitoring in various situations.
The training was conducted over three days. The first two days focused on theory, including crew resource management and pilot self-awareness. The third day consisted of examinations and hands-on drone operation practice.
Representative of FASI’s Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) Committee, James Timothy Kaunang, emphasized that continuous training is crucial for drone operators. Increasing flight hours helps pilots better understand the characteristics and responses of each drone unit.
One of the participants, Police Commissioner (Kompol) Fadli, stated that this training serves as an early step toward implementing an air-based traffic monitoring system. He hopes the technology will provide real-time traffic updates and can be operated in accordance with Korlantas standard operating procedures (SOP).
Korlantas POLRI considers this training part of its broader strategy to adopt new technologies in support of police duties, particularly for monitoring, documentation, and managing traffic flow in the field. (*) (*)
