DETIK – The Christmas 2025 and New Year 2026 security operation will begin on 20 December 2025. The Indonesian National Police (POLRI) has prepared Operation Lilin 2025 to maintain security, public order, and the smooth flow of community mobility.

Deputy Chief of POLRI, Commissioner General Dedi Prasetyo, stated that Operation Lilin 2025 will be conducted in coordination with the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) and various related stakeholders. The operation is a routine national agenda aimed at anticipating the surge in public activity toward the year-end holidays.

Operation Lilin 2025 will run for 14 days, from 20 December 2025 to 2 January 2026. During this period, a total of 146,701 joint personnel will be deployed across Indonesia.

These personnel consist of 77,637 POLRI officers and 13,775 TNI personnel. An additional 55,289 personnel come from supporting institutions, including local governments, transportation agencies, and other security-related bodies.

To support security measures, 2,903 posts will be established at various strategic locations. These include security posts (Pospam) focused on safeguarding high-risk areas, service posts (Posyan) dedicated to public services, and integrated posts that combine security and service functions.

All of these posts will secure 44,226 vital objects and public activity centers. Secured locations include churches, bus terminals, seaports, airports, railway stations, shopping centers, tourist destinations, and venues for New Year 2026 celebrations.

For the automotive sector and land transportation, Operation Lilin 2025 represents a critical period for ensuring smooth traffic flow. The operation also aims to enhance road safety amid increased vehicle volumes during the year-end holiday season. (*)
