KOMPAS – The first Public Electric Vehicle Charging Station (SPKLU) Center in Jakarta has officially begun operations. It is located at Rest Area Kilometer (KM) 10 Cibubur (Jakarta). This facility is part of efforts to accelerate the development of electric vehicles in Indonesia.
Director of Retail and Commerce of PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN) Persero, Adi Priyanto, said that the number of electric cars in Indonesia reached around 98 thousand units in 2025. The figure is projected to rise to 130 thousand units in 2026.
Adi explained that using electric vehicles offers many advantages. Vehicle tax is lower, and operating costs can be reduced to less than half compared to fuel-powered vehicles. He believes this step is important so that Indonesia does not continue to depend on fuel imports.
The SPKLU Center at Rest Area KM 10 Cibubur was inaugurated on November 3, 2025, by PLN together with PT High Volt Technology (HVT). The facility has six units of Ultra Fast Charging with two units of 60 kilowatts (kW), two units of 120 kW, and two units of 200 kW. All units operate 24 hours a day.
General Manager of PT Bimaruna Marga Jaya, Budi Mansyah, said that this facility shows support for the use of clean energy. Vehicle users can charge their batteries while resting or shopping in the rest area.
Deputy Mayor of East Jakarta, Kusmanto, appreciated PLN’s effort to expand the SPKLU network. According to him, the fast-charging technology that can fully charge batteries in about 20 minutes can support the sales of electric vehicles in Jakarta. (*)
