OLX News – Mitsubishi Motors won three awards at the Good Design Award 2025 organized by the Japan Institute of Design Promotion (JDP). Mitsubishi Motors is a Japanese automotive company known for its lineup of durable and innovative vehicles. Meanwhile, JDP is a non-profit organization in Japan that evaluates and promotes the best designs across various industrial fields.
Three Mitsubishi models received awards this year: the Mitsubishi Destinator, Delica Mini, and the Delica Series. The Destinator became the main highlight after winning the Good Design Award 2025. Judges praised its design for combining a robust and elegant appearance without being excessive.
The front of the Destinator features Mitsubishi’s signature T-Shape lighting, giving it a modern impression. Its sharp body lines from front to rear create a tough and dynamic look, which Mitsubishi calls the “Gravitas & Dynamism” concept.
Judges noted that the Destinator’s design reflects a balance between form, precision, and technology. Mitsubishi describes the vehicle’s design concept as a “Confidence Booster for Energetic Families,” meaning a family car that instills confidence. The interior is spacious and comfortable, making it suitable for active families.
In addition to the Destinator, the Delica Mini also achieved recognition by being listed among the Good Design Best 100. This compact vehicle features a boxy body, large round headlights, and a horizontal grille. The design gives it a tough appearance despite its small size.
The Delica Mini also carries a unique personality through its “Deli Maru” mascot integrated into the in-car user interface. Judges said the car successfully maintained the adventurous spirit of the Delica series in a kei car format — Japan’s signature small, efficient vehicle class. Meanwhile, the Delica Series received the Good Design Long Life Design Award 2025, an honor given to long-lasting and enduringly relevant products.
The first Delica was introduced in 1968 as a commercial vehicle. Today, the fifth generation — the Delica D:5 — is known as a multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) with sport utility vehicle (SUV) styling, powered by a diesel engine and four-wheel drive (4WD) system. Judges said the Delica’s design continues to evolve with the times while remaining part of Japan’s lifestyle. They praised its durability and design evolution as truly commendable.
With these three awards, Mitsubishi Motors demonstrates its dedication to design excellence as well as performance. The Destinator’s success at Japan’s automotive design competition also reaffirms Mitsubishi’s ability to compete globally by blending strength with modern style. (*)
