OTODRIVER – Daimler Trucks, a German commercial vehicle manufacturer, announced it will continue its collaboration with Japanese automakers Hino Motors and Mitsubishi Fuso Truck and Bus Corporation (MFTBC) through the establishment of a joint venture called Archion.

The announcement was jointly made by MFTBC President & CEO Karl Deppen, MFTBC Representative Director, Vice President & CFO Hetal Larigi, and Hino Motors President & CEO Satoshi Ogiso.

According to Karl Deppen, Archion will focus on a range of strategic issues in the commercial vehicle sector. These include carbon neutrality, driver availability, logistics system efficiency, road safety, and freight rate structures. He emphasized that the new company aims to become a leading commercial vehicle provider in Asia and Japan.

The collaboration between Hino and Mitsubishi Fuso has become increasingly synergistic, despite the two companies having different corporate values. Archion is scheduled to begin operations in the second quarter of 2026, staffed with top personnel from both companies.

Vehicle production will take place at Mitsubishi Fuso’s facility in Kawasaki, Japan, while the product development center will be located at Hino’s facility in Hamura, Japan. Production capacity enhancements will also be carried out across three different sites in Japan. Currently, Hino Motors has a production capacity of around 150,000 units per year, while Mitsubishi Fuso produces approximately 120,000 units annually. (*)
